Kaitlin Olson, who has been making waves as Morrgan Gillory on High Potential, was born on August 18, 1975, in Tigard, Oregon. She first developed a passion for acting during her time at the University of Oregon, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in theater arts. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a professional acting career. Once there, she became a member of The Groundlings Sunday Company, which is a group of improvisational comedians that has existed for more than 45 years, and began honing her chops.
Guest appearances on popular shows, like Curb Your Enthusiasm, where she played Becky, the sister of Cheryl Hines’s character, along with appearances on The Drew Carey Show, The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, and Out of Practice, helped put her on a fast track to fame. In 2004, she became Deandra “Sweet Dee” Reynolds in the FX sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, a role that brought her significant recognition.
Besides It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Olson has an extensive filmography. Some of the films she starred in include Leap Year (2010), The Heat (2013), and Vacation (2015), and she lent her voice to the character Destiny in the animated film Finding Dory (2016) and also has voice credits for The Simpsons, and Bob’s Burgers. On television, she has been on many shows, including The Mick (2017–2018) and the critically acclaimed series Hacks, where she earned two Emmy nominations.
In 2024, Olson took on the lead role in the ABC crime dramedy High Potential, portraying Morgan Gillory, a high-IQ individual who becomes a crime-solving consultant. It has been attracting a dedicated audience each week and is already gearing up for a second season. She also continues to star in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Kaitlin Olson is an amazing performer with the ability to blend humor with emotional depth no matter what role she is playing. She has proven that she can carry the show on her own and is versatile enough to step outside physical comedy for voice acting and dramatic roles.
She’s been making us laugh for almost two decades, and we hope that she continues to do so for the foreseeable future. With High Potential getting more popular and a second season on the way, we can’t wait to see how she elevates Morgan’s character.
