It's officially Halloween season as TV networks and streaming services have begun releasing their lineups for the fall. Along with a handful of favorites returning for new seasons during this year's fall TV schedule, we'll also be getting a long list of horror content to enjoy as we approach Halloween. Ryan Murphy has multiple titles out this time around, including Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (the follow-up to Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez on FX, and another new show called Grotesquerie on FX.
If all of these are on your lists, prepare to add another show because Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology horror series American Horror Stories will be returning on Oct. 15. As reported by Deadline, the American Horror Story spinoff is making a comeback for a one-time Huluween event, releasing all five episodes on Hulu at once. Plot details have not yet been revealed, but we do have an initial cast list, which is star-studded! We can expect to see the following actors appear:
- Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, The White Lotus)
- Henry Winkler (Happy Days, Barry)
- Victor Garber (Alias, Family Law)
- Debby Ryan (Jessie, The Resort)
- Dyllon Burnside (Pose, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story)
- Jeff Hiller (Nightcap, Somebody Somewhere)
- Jessica Barden (The End of the F***ing World, Pieces of Her)
- Angel Bismark Curiel (Acting for a Cause, Pose)
- Guy Burnet (Hollyoaks, Oppenheimer)
- June Squibb (The Young and the Restless, Nebraska)
Though we don't have any teases for what these five episodes will follow, we can take some guesses based on previous seasons. American Horror Stories has explored horror topics like urban legends, serial killers, supernatural forces, a deadly pandemic, and others. Though each episode varies in quality, the anthology format is a really fun way to tell mini, complete stories. Past cast members have included Cody Fern, Denis O'Hare, Matt Bomer, Paris Jackson, Kaia Gerber, Charles Melton, Billie Lourd, and many other familiar faces.
Murphy and Falchuk tend to work with the same actors many times, so we're expecting to probably see a few more pop up this time around. Burnside, Barden, and Hiller have already appeared in previous episodes of American Horror Stories.
Unfortunately, we won't be getting a new season of American Horror Story in 2024, but hopefully, this fun five-episode event will hold fans over until the beloved horror series returns. AHS has been renewed for season 13, though FX boss John Landgraf shared this summer that the network doesn't even know what the timeline for it is. Given Murphy's full lineup of other shows, that's not too surprising. "Ryan Murphy, really, he’s the one that pretty much decides and announces the dates on all of his shows. He’s his own studio," Landgraf told TheWrap.
One thing we can count on is that Murphy will always have something in the works, and this year, we have a whole lot of it to watch! Stream all five episodes of American Horror Stories' 2024 Huluween event on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
