It's about that time to say goodbye to September so we can start October, aka the best month of the year. Why is October the best month of the year, you ask? Well, Halloween takes place this month, and we can't wait to watch some of our favorite horror movies and shows to get in the Halloween spirit.

If we're being honest, Hulu is the perfect destination for those seeking a spine-tingling lineup of movies and shows that they can watch to satisfy their spooky season cravings. From classic horror masterpieces to chilling modern series and films, there's really something for everyone!

Below, we shared a list of 27 horror movies and shows that are either coming to Hulu soon or are already streaming that will make anyone's Halloween truly unforgettable!

Barbarian (2022)

  • Hulu release date: Oct. 1, 2024
  • Cast: Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long

Barbarian was one of the best horror films of 2022. It received positive reviews from both critics and audiences, with many praising the movie for its unique premise, strong performances, and unexpected twists. It stars Georgina Campbell as a young woman named Tess who arrives at the Airbnb rental she reserved only to find out it's been accidentally double-booked by a strange man.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, she decides to stay the night, not knowing that the house has secrets of its own and a dark past she will soon discover.

Grotesquerie (2024)

Cast: Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville, Micaela Diamond, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Raven Goodwin and Travis Kelce

Grotesquerie is a horror drama series created by Ryan Murphy. It follows a detective and a nun who team up together to investigate a series of brutal murders taking place in their small community. As of Sept. 30, the first two episodes are already streaming on Hulu. New episodes air on FX every Wednesday before streaming on Hulu the next day.

Talk to Me (2022)

Cast: Sophie Wilde, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Otto, Zoe Terakes

If you have the Paramount+ with Showtime add-on, you should be able to watch Talk to Me on Hulu. It centers around a group of friends who discover they can communicate with the dead using a mysterious embalmed hand. But when one of them ends up going too far when using the hand, what started off as a thrilling party game turns into a complete nightmare as the spirits start to take control, causing violent and disturbing occurrences.

Immaculate (2024)

Cast: Sydney Sweeney, Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli, Simona Tabasco

Immaculate revolves around a devoutly religious woman named Cecilia who is invited to stay at a seemingly idyllic convent in the Italian countryside. But soon after her arrival, she begins to notice strange occurrences, leading her to uncover the truth behind the convent’s facade.

Smile (2022)

Cast: Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Kal Penn, Rob Morgan

Smile is a supernatural horror film revolving around a psychiatrist named Rose Cotter who, after witnessing the suicide of a patient, begins to experience terrifying visions and strange occurrences of people smiling at her in a sinister way.

As the haunting intensifies, Rose finds her mental state deteriorating more and more. She soon discovers that she's being haunted by an evil entity that feeds on trauma and fear. Now, she must do everything in her power to put a stop to it if she wants to survive.

Hold Your Breath (2024)

  • Hulu release date: Oct. 3, 2024
  • Cast: Sarah Paulson, Amiah Miller, Annaleigh Ashford, Alona Jane Robbins, Ebon Moss-Bachrach

In Hold Your Breath, the story is set in 1930s Oklahoma, where we follow a worried mother who is concerned with protecting her family from a sinister force she believes inhabits a dust storm.

American Horror Story (2011-)

American Horror Story is a horror anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. There are 12 seasons available to stream on Hulu, so there's plenty to watch and enjoy this spooky season. Each season of the show is a self-contained miniseries with its own storyline, characters, and setting. In my opinion, some of the best seasons are Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, and Roanoke.

For example, Murder House centers around a family who moves into a haunted house filled with the ghosts of its former residents. In Hotel, the story is set in a haunted hotel in Los Angeles, which harbors many dark secrets and a plethora of ghostly inhabitants.

The Exorcist (1973)

Cast: Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Lee J. Cobb, Kitty Winn, Jack MacGowran, Jason Miller, Linda Blair

In order to watch The Exorcist on Hulu, you must have the Max add-on. It's a supernatural horror movie centering around a 12-year-old girl who becomes possessed by a demonic entity and her mother's desperate attempts at saving her through an exorcism.

Mr. Crocket (2024)

  • Hulu release date: Oct. 11, 2024
  • Cast: Jerrika Hinton, Elvis Nolasco, Ayden Gavin, Kristolyn Lloyd, Alex Akpobome

Mr. Crocket is based on the 2022 short of the same name and revolves around a determined mother who embarks on a dangerous journey to track down the demonic children’s show host who has kidnapped her son.
