Ghosted on Hulu: The sci-fi comedy you need to watch this Halloween
By Ed Malaker
If you are in the mood for some comedy, you need to check out Ghosted. The show is now streaming on Hulu after being picked up from Fox, where it started. It combines humor, science fiction, and horror as it follows two detectives as they investigate paranormal activities in Los Angeles.
Plot and characters
Ghosted centers around two main characters: Adam Scott’s Max Jennifer and Craig Robinson’s Leroy Wright. Max is a former Stanford professor turned conspiracy theorist, while Leroy is a street-smart former LAPD detective. The two go to work for the Bureau Underground, a secret government agency, to investigate paranormal occurrences, and each uses their special skills to solve the case.
Max relies on doing things scientifically, while Leroy relies on his detective instincts. Their differing approaches create entertaining conflict that propels the show, and there are plenty of laughs in each episode.

Memorable episodes
Ghosted is only one season, but it features 16 memorable episodes that will have you revisiting the show. Each episode features a unique case, and some of the most memorable include Ghost Studz, where Max and Leroy go on a ghost-hunting reality show, and Haunted Hayride, where the two must investigate a missing person case at a haunted attraction.
Reception and critical response
Ghosted has generally positive reviews, with a Metascore of 62 out of 100 on Metacritic. Most people enjoy the strong performances by Adam Scott and Craig Robinson and the blend of detective work and paranormal comedy. While it may not have been a massive breakout hit, it has a loyal fanbase and is perfect for people who like The Office, The X-Files, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, What We Do in the Shadows, Deadbeat, and many others.
It’s also a great show to start watching during the Halloween season.
Is Ghosted still ongoing?
Unfortunately, Fox canceled Ghosted after its first season. Despite having a dedicated fanbase, the show did not continue beyond its initial 16 episodes.
Why was Ghosted canceled?
Despite having a strong cast and unique premise, Ghosted struggled with viewership ratings, which ultimately led to its cancellation after one season.
Is Ghosted family-friendly?
Ghosted is rated TV-14, meaning it may not be suitable for children under 14. It includes mild language, sci-fi violence, and some spooky themes, though it is largely comedic in tone.
Does Ghosted Have a Satisfying Conclusion?
Because the show ended after one season, its conclusion isn’t neatly tied up. However, the show is primarily episodic, and each episode can stand alone without the viewer needing to see the previous episodes to understand what is going on.
