Gordon Ramsay has dominated the kitchen and cooking scene for years but now his sights are set on “uncharted” territories. Check out our preview of his new show below.

In the new six-part series produced by National Geographic, the acerbic chef treks through jungles, climbs rock faces, and rappels down raging waterfalls. Gordon Ramsay literally goes to uncharted territories in his quest for finding new ingredients to use in fantastic new recipes.

In each location, he discovers ingredients he will use in creating new dishes that he serves to the locals. Sampling weaver ant eggs in Laos, eel hunting with his bare hands, spearfishing in Hawaii, cliff-hanging in Peru to harvest cactus worms. No stone is left unturned in his culinary quest. These new culturally inspired recipes are shared on National Geographic’s site for anyone who wishes to try them.

The basis of Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted will center around travel and food, “with a dash of friendly competition” added to the mix. In other words, Ramsay will have a friendly competition with local chefs which isn’t surprising given Ramsay’s competitive streak. It will be interesting to watch how the premise and rules are established in these “friendly” competitions.

Those not familiar with the world-class chef, he is the creator and inspiration of the popular Hell’s Kitchen. An American based competition reality show based on the British show of the same name, which Ramsay also hosted. It pits two teams of chefs against each other with the winner receiving a job as head chef at one of Ramsay’s many restaurants around the world.

If the stress of competing against other chefs isn’t enough, the contestants also need to survive Ramsay’s infamous rages and caustic tongue-lashings that can strip a person’s ego to the bone. To compete in this reality competition, you not only have to be a good chef but have very tough skin to make it through the competition, as Ramsay has been known to make competitors cry.
