Ancient Aliens: 10 lesser-known landmarks with extraterrestrial properties

In case you’re unfamiliar with Ancient Aliens, each episode of the A&E series takes viewers through a new piece of evidence that proves the existence of extraterrestrial life. But not only that, the ancient-astronaut theorists of Ancient Aliens explain how beings from outer space contributed to life’s emergence on Earth. That aspect is up for debate but you can’t ignore the fact that there are locations on Earth with inexplicable, possibly extraterrestrial properties. Take the pyramids of Egypt for instance.

The Egyptian pyramids align perfectly with constellations in the sky and seemingly line up with similar landmarks across the globe. It could just be a coincidence but the precision and craftsmanship invested in the Pyramids Of Giza and similar landmarks is extraordinary. Some of them are only off-set by minute degrees—probably due to shifts in the ground—making an almost perfect alignment a mystery to us all. And considering the architects of Egypt didn’t possess the knowledge or skill to manufacture a building with such precision, it’s an astonishing development.

Egypt’s pyramids are worth mentioning because no one can explain how they came to be. Scientists can make guesses and theories all day but we don’t have any definitive answers, yet. The only plausible answer is that extraterrestrials contributed to their creation, giving us yet another reason to look into these mysterious locations.

Because of that, we’ve analyzed ten similar sites, some of which are widely unknown. You may have heard of a few but a good majority of these sites have been overlooked in recent years. 10. Band Of Holes (Pisco Valley, Peru)

Like a number of landmarks in Peru, the Band Of Holes remains a long unanswered mystery. It’s situated in the Pisco Valley, extending across the Nazca Plateau. These 6000 some holes have puzzled archeologists for years and continues to do so today. No one has developed a feasible hypothesis for how they came to be or who put them there but many theories have been proposed.

One theory on how the Band Of Holes came into existence was that an extraterrestrial race used some sort of machine to create them. Their alignment and positioning give us the impression that they were all carved out at the same time but the Nazca people didn’t possess the technology necessary to accomplish such a task. They could over a long period of time, but unless the Nazca spent a good majority of their lives digging these holes, extraterrestrials likely had a hand in it.

The Band Of Holes also have rocks lining the sides so the architects would have had two tasks: one to dig the holes and the second to decorate the sides with small rocks. This alone would’ve been an extremely tedious job for them to undertake—that is unless they received assistance/guidance from a more intelligent lifeform.

Theories aside, the Band Of Holes’ mystery will continue to captivate us for years to come. Their origin is still relatively unknown and until archeologists conduct further investigations, there’s no telling what other mysteries this location holds. For all we know, the holes expand further down into the ground, forming some sort of canal system, but that’s just our hypothesis.

9. Churches Of Lalibela (Amhara, Ethiopia)

As surprising as it may sound, Ethiopia is home to one of the most mysterious locations on Earth: the Churches of Lalibela. They reside in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia which is primarily occupied by Orthodox Christians. All of these worshippers go to the Lalibela churches—places that defy explanation.

The reason these monolithic churches posses such notoriety is that they were cut directly out of rock—and that’s possible—but the type of precision used to craft the artwork and stonework inside was impossibly intricate. The designs might seem doable with a hammer and chisel, but when you look at the level of detail carved into this rock, the precision could only be done with electric tools.

We may be wrong about electric tools but some modern technology was used in creating the Churches of Lalibela. Unless there’s a construction method unbeknownst to modern society, ancient aliens probably lent the Orthodox Christians a hand in building their places of worship. Of course, an alien species lending its’ technology to the Ethiopian people probably did so in secret.

While the faith of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians follows the general Christian principles—including the worship of Jesus Christ—their culture may have also prayed to extraterrestrials at one point in their history. If the churches’ creation was dependent on alien assistance, the people building Lalibela’s churches could have wound up praying to another being. Then again, the existence of aliens would ultimately disprove Christianity’s core principles so any assistance was likely only known to Lalibela himself.

In any case, the advanced building techniques used to create the Churches of Lalibela seems inconceivable for humans. Some alien life-form must have helped because cutting stone isn’t easy—and when you don’t have power tools at your disposal—the evidence suggests humans used extraterrestrial technology for the task.

8. Carnac Stones (Carnac, Brittany)

Fans of exotic locations with megalithic monuments might be familiar with England’s Stonehenge but a vast majority fail to acknowledge France for its’ even larger assortment of stones—the site known as the Carnac Stones. There, rows and rows of stones line green fields—and these aren’t just any stones—they’re massive in size.

Further investigations of the area uncovered dolmens/tombs scattered around the surrounding area. This discovery implied a civilization had a hand in erecting those stones. How they accomplished said feat is the mystery we’ve yet to solve.

Theorists on Ancient Aliens made guesses as to how all the stones were aligned and their explanation makes a lot of sense. The ancient astronaut theorists purport that extraterrestrial beings laid out the stones for the Celtic people, or at the very least helped transport them from where they originally stood.

In all likelihood, the Celtic people probably received help from an alien life-form during the construction of their temples. They were able to replicate the process multiple times so the placement of these megalithic stones was presumably an everyday thing for them. How they managed to do so is the grand mystery.

If we’re looking for possible answers, there are two distinct possibilities. Either the Celtic people learned from an alien species, or extraterrestrials lent us their technology for a short period of time. The latter would suggest that an event resulted with the aliens leaving the planet with their tools but what could have driven us apart? Did humans attempt to wage war on the aliens who helped us? One can only guess.

Regardless of how they did it, an explanation for why the stones are aligned in such a manner is more important. Their purpose on the coastal landscape is unknown and theorists still have yet to make heads or tails of the strange monuments.

7. The Nazca Lines (Peru)

Before they were observed from above, no one had any idea that Peru’s Nazca Lines was so massive in size. And there’s not just one, multiple formations show zoomorphic and anthropomorphic shapes around the plains. The images vary from site to site, though the one that stands out the most has to be “spaceman”.

The glyph coined “spaceman” depicts a humanoid with what appears to be a space helmet on. This theory comes from a modern perspective but the design could be exactly what it looks like—a space traveler.

On the other hand, perhaps the glyph represents a human from an alien point-of-view. It’s raising one hand up and the concept of up and down would be irrelevant to extraterrestrials since they’d be traveling across three-dimensional space—up and down simply being a matter of perspective for them. We, on the other hand, are only familiar with the concepts of up and down.

Until the 1950s, humans couldn’t navigate outside of the atmosphere. Space travel still eluded scientists at the time so any aliens who visited Earth in the distant past would’ve been under the impression that we were incapable of navigating the stars. In turn, extraterrestrials used a hand pointing towards the sky to present a relevant concept to us with the “spaceman” glyph. Keep in mind that this is just our guess.

The theory most scientists subscribe to is that the geoglyphs were created by the Nazca people around 500 BCE. It makes the most sense but considering the lines are drawn to be seen from above, that implies someone from the stars was observing these different shapes.

Besides, the Nazca people would’ve never figured out that we’d eventually develop flying machines—unless they had a time machine. And there’s no evidence to suggest their culture had the technology for hot air balloons—or any device that would grant them an aerial view of the Nazca Lines. Therefore, the only logical explanation is that these glyphs were messages to visitors from above.

6. Gate Of The Gods (Peru)

Standing in the middle of a Peruvian plateau is a big rock called the Puerta De Hayu Marca, or the Gate Of The Gods. The stone itself appears to be some sort of doorway carved directly into the center of the rock. The carving has a clear geometric design, extending seven meters across and seven meters down.

What’s most interesting is that the carving is cradled under a mass of naturally piled rocks—making it impossible for someone to suggest that the carved rock was placed there by humans. And carving the rock with modern technology is out of the question since it would’ve left scorch marks or some identifiable evidence tying it to people. So the only other explanation is that extraterrestrials assisted in crafting the door. The question is: where does the door go?

Additionally, the Gate Of The Gods seems to have a keyhole at the bottom of the mound. If you look at the rock in its’ entirety, the square has a small imprint that is oddly placed there—one that appears oddly similar to a keyhole. The problem with this interpretation is that the door doesn’t open to any physical plane of existence.

On the other side of the Gate Of The Gods, there’s nothing—not a continuous wall of rocks—not any sort of tunnel—nothing. And while this presents a problem for the “gateway” theory, there’s no denying that the formation looks identical to a door. And when you account for the unexplained nature of the stone, it is difficult to attribute the door’s creation to human craftsmanship.

5. Zone Of Silence (Mexico)

Outside of Peru’s corner of anomalous locations, there’s one landmark in Central America that takes the lead in possessing extraterrestrial properties: the Zone Of Silence.

Located in Durango, Mexico, the Mapimí Silent Zone defies all logic and explanation. Within the 30-mile stretch of desert, anomalies involving radio signals have been reported on multiple occasions. A mission to study the atmosphere in the 1970’s also resulted in a rocket crashing within the zone—mind you that a thirty-mile space is a relatively small target to hit—especially when an object is hurtling through the atmosphere. That’s not to say it is impossible but the odds aren’t good.

The number of strange incidents, however, has declined since the Mexican government turned a large patch of that very desert into the Mapimí Biosphere Reserve. There are apparently hundreds of scientists stationed here, all for the purpose of studying the exotic fauna and flora—according to Atlas Obscura.

The thing about the scientists’ presence is that the wildlife they’re studying could be biologically different because of the Mapimí Silent Zone. It’s difficult to say there’s a direct correlation between the two but perhaps the entire desert possesses unknown properties that humans have yet to identify. For all we know, the scientists working at the Mapimí Biological Reserve are actually trying to identify what’s so unique about this stretch of land. Their supposed reason for studying the area is the exotic fauna but maybe that’s a cover for the real mystery.

4. Marcahuasi Stones (Lima, Peru)

Getting back to the bread and butter of strange landmarks across the globe, Peru is also home to the Marcahuasi Stones. These standing pillars of granite have been the subject of much debate over the years, namely because no one can definitively say where they originated from. Some guesses say they are due to natural erosion while others speculate that an ancient civilization crafted the stone figures.

The pillars themselves aren’t sculpted to the degree of a professional with today’s modern technology would but the imprints of caricatures are unmistakable. However you want to look at the stones, there’s no denying the images’ presence—even for naturally-occurring phenomena.

Because of that, the notion of extraterrestrials crafting the stone monuments in Marcahuasi doesn’t sound all that preposterous. We realize that the Nazca once inhabited this land but there’s no evidence to suggest that their society possessed the technology necessary to craft such well-designed stonework.

While the people who inhabited this area didn’t possess the means to design large pillars like the Marcahausi Stones, help from aliens would explain how they did. Legends of gods and deities from their culture do depict skyward figures gifting items to the Nazca, so perhaps the Nazca were gifted a cutting device of some sort—presumably one with laser precision.

Since the stones’ design appear to be works of art, whoever printed these images on the pillars did so with ease. Any power tools would leave noticeable errors but the designs are flawless—with the exception of a few that have eroded over time.

Furthermore, a laser gifted by an extraterrestrial is the most plausible answer to how the Marcahuasi Stones came to be. The question is: where did this tool go? Did the extraterrestrials reclaim their technology, or did humans abuse it so much that the device became inoperable?

3. City Of The Gods (Teotihuacan, Mexico)

Not far from central Mexico lies the fallen city of Teotihuacan, otherwise known as the “birthplace of the gods”. Teotihuacan has earned quite the reputation over the years, with multiple discoveries unearthing the intricate channels that lie underneath the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. The two landmarks that lie in close proximity of the Avenue Of The Dead—a long road that runs down the center of the metropolis.

The monuments within the City Of The Gods are extraordinary sights to behold but it’s the civilization that constructed the city that has us intrigued—namely because a cause for their disappearance hasn’t been identified. Theories on how the Aztec society disappeared ranges from droughts to more manmade causes like invasions, though one of the more reasonable theories suggests that the working class revolted against the elites. Of course, no scientist or archeologist has been able to definitively identify what caused the fall of the Aztec civilization.

Regardless of what the cause was, the advancements in Teotihuacan’s architecture were unprecedented for a Mesoamerican city. The metropolis itself contained paved roads, pyramids, temples, and burial chambers—all designed with perfect geometric precision—a feat not easily accomplished in ancient times.

What’s of greater interest is how easily it was for the Aztecs to replicate the process without error. Paving roads is no easy task, and when you don’t have a machine to help with the more repetitive motions, it can be quite a challenge. And for this reason alone do we suspect they received help from extraterrestrials.

On top of that, the Aztec people worshipped deities from the sky—the same kind that could be mistaken for aliens today. The Aztecs prayed and even sacrificed to these deities who they considered to be gods. Could it be that they mistook aliens for gods?

2. The Kaaba’s Black Stone (Mecca, Saudi Arabia)

The Kaaba is mostly known for being the center of Muslim worship as it’s a place where all capable people of the Muslim faith pilgrimage to at least once but there’s an interstellar element embedded directly into the Kaaba temple.

For those who haven’t seen footage of people going through the Tawak ritual, they worship the Kaaba by circling it seven times in a counterclockwise motion. So many people participate that lines and lines of worshippers can be seen circling all at once. Those closest to the center and the Kaaba itself attempt to kiss the Black Stone—the stone being an object of extraterrestrial origin.

To clarify, the Black Stone is considered an extraterrestrial object because its appearance is that of a meteorite. The object is literally a fragmented gemstone that’s been smoothed out. One might mistake the Black Stone for a piece of coal but the two are of entirely different consistencies. The ornament has also been smoothed out so its’ gem-like appearance is emphasized to an even greater degree.

The reason why this particular gemstone may have extraterrestrial origins is that black minerals aren’t common. Minerals found on Earth can vary greatly but the only black gemstones that come to mind are Agate and Obsidian—a type of volcanic glass. There are nearby sites where the Obsidian could’ve been mined from but it’s much likelier that the stone was originally a meteorite.

When we account for how most religions pray to deities in the skies, it makes more sense that people of the area would worship objects that fell from above—rather than ones created by volcanic activity. And from an ancient perspective, a meteorite falling from space would seem like a celestial event. In turn, the Black Stone is more than likely an extraterrestrial object.

All theories aside, an exact composition of the Black Stone has yet to be identified. Studies and scientific evaluations haven’t been conducted so there’s no way to confirm exactly what the stone is made of. Of course, the general consensus is that the meteor-like appearance is evidence of the object’s extraterrestrial origin.

1. Atacama Giant (Huara, Chile)

Despite being the largest geoglyph of an anthropomorphic figure on the planet, the Atacama Giant often gets skipped over. It’s not for a lack of intrigue but more so because the Nazca Lines are due north of the landmark. They tend to attract the most attention from tourists and archeologists, giving reason to why the Atacama Giant is a lesser-known location.

Notoriety aside, the Atacama Giant holds much significance because the picture depicted in the glyph is clearly an extraterrestrial being. Scientists and archeologists argue that the image is of an Incan weather god—one that granted the Inca people with the ability to determine seasonal changes. Said deity was presumably based on a celestial figure they encountered, but what the Incas interpreted as a god was more than likely a race of aliens.

Since the Inca people couldn’t haven’t known the difference between an extraterrestrial and a celestial being, it’s feasible that they mistook one for the other. It’s not for us to say which visited them but the Incas obviously copied this image of a strange anthropomorphic being onto the ground after encountering a new lifeform. What other reason would they have for designing such a strange geoglyph?

Whoever visited the Inca people, they made quite the impression on their ancient society. The impression was so great that the Incas created one of the largest glyphs in the world. The supposed reason for the Atacama Giant’s creation was to establish a means of determining the seasons but there’s a problem with that line of reasoning: the size.

The Atacama Giant’s functionality makes sense but there’s no real need for such a massive formation. In truth, only the lines at the top and sides of the head are used—the rest is just a peculiar design. The Inca people who carved out the lines could have just as easily marked the important ones, without including the anthropomorphic figure underneath. Yet, their civilization felt so strongly about the Weather God that it justified erecting a monument. The question we’re left with is: what happened to the aliens that the Atacama Giant is based on?
