Fans are outraged by cancellation of ILY America With Sarah Silverman

ILY America, Sarah Silverman’s talk-driven series was recently canceled by Hulu. The move has led to fans coming out of the woodworks to voice their disappointment at the streamer’s callous move.

Despite the tremendous following behind Sarah Silverman’s sketch series, ILY America, Hulu is not moving forward with another season of the hit comedy show. Silverman made the announcement via her Twitter Account earlier this morning.

Since then, fans from every walk of life have logged on to speak out — many of whom are upset that the streamer would even consider canceling ILY America — some of them are threatening to cut Hulu off permanently just to boycott the streamer. One might interpret these responses as overreactions but the extreme comments are just a sign of how deeply invested fans are.

What’s interesting about these outspoken individuals is that their outcry could potentially save I Love You, America With Sarah Silverman. Hulu has decided against continuing the series, but after hearing all these responses, the streamer may reconsider the series’ cancellation.

The streaming service also has new leadership behind the scenes which may factor into the streamer’s future. Hulu is still its own entity but now a majority stake in the company belongs to Disney — thanks to the recent merger with Fox. And Disney’s Bob Iger stated that they intend to invest further in Hulu Original programming — the list of titles includes ILY America.

While the content on ILY America could be construed as controversial, it’s just as integral to the Hulu’s recent successes. Disney’s executives might not be too keen on keeping Silverman’s brand of humor around but they can’t argue with the facts. Therefore, ILY America could be taken into consideration when Disney and Hulu’s execs sit down to discuss which series they want to invest in further.

Disney and Fox are still finalizing the last bits of their contract, but once majority ownership of Hulu is transferred over, we can expect to see changes being made. They won’t be instantaneous but the streamer’s direction will begin to shift gradually.

After, we’ll likely learn which Hulu series will remain on the streamer — and which ones will be canceled permanently. Hopefully, I Love You America With Sarah Silverman is among the series being considered — that is unless Silverman plans to move her show to another streaming service or network.
