The Act: New images of Joey King and Patricia Arquette released

Joey King, one of The Act’s stars recently posted a slew of pictures from the Hulu series to her Official Twitter Account. Check them out below.
For anyone unfamiliar with The Act, it’s a seasonal-anthology series centered around a true-crime story. The series’ freshman season will center around the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard (Patricia Arquette) by her daughter, Gypsy Rose Blanchard (Joey King).
The Blanchard’s story came into the public’s eye after a BuzzFeed article written by Michelle Dean caught national attention. Initially, the story shocked many — but has since become the subject of much intrigue.
To capitalize on the national appeal, an HBO documentary of the Blanchard’s story was developed back in 2016. The story will be retold in a season-long Hulu series later this year.
As far as previews go, only a few images from The Act have been released so far. Joey King recently posted a batch to own Twitter Account. The newly released images for Hulu’s The Act don’t reveal much about the show’s plot but a picture is worth a thousand words in this case.
Since King is portraying the live-action adaptation of a real person, glimpses at her in costume are intriguing for a slew of reasons. Although, it’s mainly because King’s costume and makeup personify exactly who Gypsy Rose was during her turbulent ordeal.
In the real-life account, Gypsy’s appearance deteriorated as she was subjected to unnecessary medical procedures and medications pushed by her mother. Had Dee Dee (Arquette) not forced her daughter into that lifestyle, Gypsy’s outward appearance might not have suffered as much. Unfortunately, the elder Blanchard showed little care for how her manipulation negatively affected Gypsy.
Additionally, the images of King confirm that we’ll see a good majority of Gypsy’s time under her mother’s thumb depicted in the Hulu series. Up until recently, everyone had their own guess of how the Blanchard’s story would be told — with many assuming that The Act would shift back and forth to different points in time.
The most popular theory circulating online suggests that Gypsy (King) would tell her story in reverse order, explaining the situation to a Police Detective in charge of the homicide investigation around Dee Dee. That still may be the case but our guess is The Act will cover the Blanchard’s case from beginning to end.
