It was recently announced that Paramount+ With Showtime can be purchased as an add-on to one's Hulu subscription. After an initial week's trial, the service's $12.99 is added to Hulu's monthly fee. Boasting an expansive catalog, here are 10 shows to watch with the new add-on.
1. Dexter franchise
Showtime was home to Dexter, an original series starring Michael C. Hall as a forensic specialist who murdered serial killers in his spare time. The anti-hero premiered in 2006 and lasted for eight seasons. Recently, the franchise has found new life with several spinoffs. Dexter: New Blood aired in 2021 and followed Hall's Dexter Morgan in the present day. A second season of this story, Dexter: Resurrection, is set for a 2025 release. A new prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, premiered this month and follows the vigilante in the 90s as he honed his craft. And another prequel series focused on Dexter's arch nemesis, the Trinity Killer, is in the works.
2. The Chi
Lena Waithe's Chicago-based drama series, The Chi, premiered in 2018. Following the interconnected lives of Southside Chicago natives, the series was renewed for a seventh season after its sixth season aired in two eight-episode halves. Stars of the show include Jacob Latimore, Michael Epps, Yolanda Ross, Burgundi Baker, Jason Weaver, Luke James, and Lynn Whitfield.
3. Star Trek franchise
Paramount is the home of Star Trek. From the films to both live-action and animated series, fans can embark on the new frontiers based on Gene Roddenberry's sci-fi saga. Veteran trekkies can rediscover the original series with William Shatner's Captain Kirk, while newbies can dive into Patrick Stewart's The Next Generation or Picard.
4. Yellowjackets
Showtime's thriller mystery series Yellowjackets follows the horrendous experience a group of teen girls endures after surviving months stranded in the Canadian wilderness. As adults, the trauma bonds them once more as someone or something hunts them down. Stream the series' two seasons now ahead of the third season premiering in February 2025.
5. Special Ops: Lioness
Paired with a stellar cast including Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, and Zoe Saldana, Taylor Sherdian's Lioness is an espionage action thriller with two seasons available on Paramount+. Debuting last year, the show follows Saldana's Joe as a top CIA operative combating the world of terrorism in the shadows. Her main objective is to recruit female agents, known as Lionesses, to infiltrate enemy threats unseen.
6. I Love Lucy
Paramount is also the home of the iconic sitcom I Love Lucy, starring real-life couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. The groundbreaking comedy ran for six seasons and followed Lucy's endless attempts to insert herself as Hollywood's next star despite her husband's protests.
7. The Good Wife franchise
From the minds of Robert King and Michell King, The Good Wife franchise is a smart, savvy drama encompassing three series. The CBS original starred Julianna Margulies as a politician's wife pursuing her own political aspirations after her husband's cheating scandal. After seven seasons, Christina Baranski starred in the spinoff, The Good Fight, a legal drama that followed her attorney Diane Lockhart at an all-Black firm. And last year's Elsbeth with Carrie Preston continued the universe, with its second season airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
8. Frasier
For something light and nostalgic, Paramount+ offers Frasier. The Emmy-winning comedy spinoff from Cheers starred Kelsey Grammer as the posh psychiatrist living and learning in Seattle while aiding strangers through his radio talk show. Premiering in 1993, the show ran for 11 seasons, won 37 Emmys and scored a critically acclaimed sequel series. Premiering in 2023, the new Frasier has Mr. Crane return to Boston to reconnect with his estranged son.
9. Nurse Jackie
Before the opioid epidemic became commonplace, Showtime's Nurse Jackie followed Edie Falco's competent Jackie Peyton, RN balance her life with a nasty pill addiction. Running for seven seasons, the series concluded in 2015. Fast-forward to the present day, where IP is bliss, talks of a reboot have surfaced.
10. Yellowstone franchise
Sheridan's Yellowstone franchise has become one of cable and Paramount's most-successful properties. Following the dramatic rancher lives of the Dutton family, the original series just ended its five-season run. However, the franchise has multiple spinoffs, including next year's The Madison, set to star Michelle Pfeffier. There are also reports that Cody Hauser and Kelly O'Reilly's characters may continue in a new series. The franchise also stretches time: the limited series1883 debuted in 2021, chronicling the origins of the Dutton lineage. The history lesson continues with 1923's second season set to premiere in February 2025.
